Pioneer DJ has been teasing online about a new bit of kit for a few weeks now! Many thought it was going to be a new Pioneer DJ controller but it actually turned out to be the release of a new 4-channel mixer, the DJM-A9.

The new mixer from Pioneer DJ, possibly aimed at replacing the industry workhorse DJM-900NXS2, has a bunch of new features, including a Center Lock feature for Sound Color FX and a new mixer layout that gives more spacing around the EQ knobs.

The channel selector is now a dedicated button, whilst the channel input section now comes with an ESS Technology 32-bit high-quality A/D converter for “crystal-clear, high-resolution sound” that “takes the audio quality from the DJM-900NXS2 to another level”.

The Beat FX section and mic have also been “significantly enhanced”, says Pioneer DJ.

There’s a Bluetooth input that you can route to any channel and both rekordbox and Serato are supported.

A cryptic photo had been posted to the brand’s socials with the text: “Out of this world, landing soon. 28.02.23”. We can see why people were guessing it would be a new DJ controller unit.
