Today we take a look at the Minuendo Lossless Earplugs. Strangely, if you were to ask just about any starting DJ what one of the top pieces of music gear was needed, virtually none of them would suggest or consider the importance of a good set of earplugs.
For many, the idea of earplugs is relegated to concertgoers and people that are exposed to extremely loud sounds, like construction workers or police officers.
The last place you’d expect to see earplugs is from a DJ or musician.
However, when you think about it, these groups probably need it just as much as any other profession exposed to loud noises.
After all, most performing DJs are either in DJ booths getting hit by loud noises from large speakers or in the room trying to manage loud noises. Either way, after a while, this can steadily result in a reduction in hearing.
In this article about the Minuendo LossLess Earplugs, we’ll take a look at what the earplugs are all about and if they’re worth your time or if you’re better off looking somewhere else.

Are the Minuendo LossLess Earplugs Any Good? (in short)
While there are a ton of different earplugs out there, easily one of the most talked about today is Minuendo’s Lossless Earplugs. They’ve been noted for their noise-adjusting levers which allow you to control just how much sound you’re exposed to without having to take them off.
Minuendo LossLess Earplugs: First Impressions
Taking a look at these Norway-based earplugs fresh out of the box, the Minuendo lossless earplugs are a lot lighter than you’d have initially expected.
While I wasn’t expecting anything “bulky” by any means, I was expecting something that had at least a bit of heft to them. These are incredibly light, almost to the point of forgetting they’re even in your ear.
This isn’t a slight against the products, the exact opposite in fact.
They feel amazing in your ear while also having a tight enough seal that you’d be forgiven for thinking they were customized for your ear.
The earplugs come with 11 different tip options to play with, though they recommend the triple-flanged silicone as the ideal option for most people.
They worked well enough for me, though I have heard that others had to go with some of the other options for the best fit for them.
While I think there’s “some” credence to their recommendation, I know that everyone’s ear is different. That said, I do believe that virtually everyone will have at least one tip option that works perfectly for their ear.
One thing you’ll want to consider is the fact that, while light, they are quite large. Whereas some smaller earplugs can hide pretty easily in your ear, the Minuendo earplugs look like small Bluetooth earphones.
I personally like the larger look, but I also recognize that it does take away from the subtler and more discreet aspects of most other earplugs.
Included Case
The earplugs also come with an included case that has a connecting chord and a magnetic locking system.
This allows you to keep the earplugs together while also wearing them around your neck, making them super convenient for regular everyday life.
Included in the case is also a cleaning brush to help clear away any debris you may get on them over time and usage.

Deeper Look
Now that we’ve gotten a chance to look over the earplugs’ physical characteristics, let’s now check out how effective they are.
Sound Reduction
In terms of sound reduction, the Minuendo Lossless earplugs can produce an incredible amount of sound reduction along their highest settings of 25dB.
They also have a lever on either side that can adjust exactly how much outside sound can be heard, lowering itself all the way down to 7dB.
What’s most impressive is that you can do all of this without having to remove the headphones or physically readjust them.
This sound adjusting feature is an incredible inclusion, as it allows for quick shifts in what sounds are and aren’t reduced directly on the fly.
The one slight issue is that there isn’t a universal or master option that makes sure the sound is reduced to the same degree on both ears. Instead, you have to kind of guess which ear is at what level for either side.
It’s not a huge issue, but it’s something new users may struggle to fine-tune in the beginning.
Sound Quality
In terms of the earplugs’ sound quality, the Minuendo seem to have a very natural sound to them. I’ve gone through more than a few earplugs in my time, and these are easily among some of the best options, making them certainly worth your time from a sound quality standpoint alone.
When used, sound comes across as a reduced version of what you normally expect to hear.
There is a bit of “muffling” that you’ll have to deal with, but that’s par for the course for just about any earplug set you get.
These at least keep it with as little alteration as possible, a perk that other earplugs simply don’t afford you.
Overall Performance
What We Like:
- Incredible Sound Quality: In comparison with many other earplugs out there, these are some of the most natural sounding out there, with virtually no sound-altering or “muffling” to deal with.
- Entirely Passive: Not only are these earplugs not run by electronics, but they also don’t even need batteries or any other outside source of power to operate. This means they are completely passive and can be used at any time in any location.
- Stepless Noise Adjustment Feature: These earplugs come with a step-less noise adjustment feature that makes it super easy to alter how much sound either earplug reduces. This can range between 7dB and 25dB.
- Super Comfortable: Another thing you’ll love about these earplugs is that they are VERY comfortable. It comes with 11 different ear tip options, meaning that just about anyone will have a good experience operating them.
What We Do Not Like:
- Price: No matter how good the earplugs are, the price will always be a factor. It’s the same here, as, while these earplugs are very good, they also are very pricey. I think the features justify the price, however, it is still a price worth considering.
- Not Discreet: A factor to consider (when it comes to the build) is its size compared to its weight. While the earplugs are super lightweight, they are also very large. For those that want a smaller and more discreet option, these aren’t going to be the right fit for you. Again, I personally like the larger look, but if you don’t, you may want to keep that in mind.
- No Master Adjuster Feature: I love the stepless noise adjustment feature and the fact that both earplugs have it available to them. However, if you’re starting, it can be difficult to have them synced up perfectly, leading to times when one ear is more reduced than the other. You’ll get better at it later down the line, but it is a potentially unnecessary issue if they had a master adjustment feature built-in.

Minuendo LossLess Earplugs: The Verdict
While I won’t pretend that then Minuendo LossLess Earplugs are the greatest earplugs on the market to date, I’d be a pretty bold-faced liar to say they weren’t a strong runner-up.
The Minuendo Lossless Earplugs do just about everything right while looking amazing doing it. I’d expect that most DJs and musicians would end up wearing this all the time to protect their hearing.
If you’re someone that plans to be out in the world and want to keep things a bit more inwardly focused, these are really some great earplugs to pick up with very few downsides against them.
