- MODERN VINYL RECORD PLAYER WITH A RETRO VIBE – The Victrola Re-Spin Belt-Driven Suitcase Turntable packs a custom-tuned Bluetooth speaker and a built-in bass radiator that delivers 3X MORE BASS RESPONSE THAN A STANDARD SUITCASE RECORD PLAYER
If there’s one thing every DJ should have at least some passing knowledge of, it’s a turntable. Sure, for many, we’ve moved pretty firmly into the digital age with DJ controllers, laptops, and numerous types of software.
Still, I find that having at least a basic knowledge of how DJ turntables work, as well as owning at least one to tinker and play sound and music with, is just an important skill that all DJs that are serious about the craft should have.
The Victrola Re-Spin portable turntable is, definitely one of the better portable DJ gear options out there when it comes to affordable and accessible turntables that can give you that general performance understanding that you need. But does that mean it’s particularly good or worth your time?
We’ll take a look at these reasonably-priced record players to see if what the re-spin delivers is going to be enough to warrant a buy a re-spin or if you’re better off looking for something a bit pricier and higher quality.
Is The Victrola Re-Spin Portable Turntable Any Good?
The Victrola Re-Spin Portable Turntable features a stylish and durable design, with a retro-inspired look that is sure to appeal to vinyl enthusiasts, especially portablist turntablists. The re-spin record player also has a built-in rechargeable battery, which makes it easy to take with you on the move. If you’re looking for a compact and portable turntable with an internal speaker and Bluetooth speaker connectivity, the Victrola Re-Spin Portable Turntable is worth considering.
Victrola Re-Spin: First Impressions
Fresh out of the box, the first thing you’re going to notice with the Victrola Re-Spin record player is that the box itself incorporates recycled plastic. And while that probably isn’t a shock to most people in and of itself, what is a shock is just how “cheap” that plastic feels.
Sure, you shouldn’t be expecting much from a record player that isn’t even $100. That said, I did expect them to put a bit more effort into its overall structure.
Not only does the Victrola Re-Spin record player box have a cheap and plastic toy feel to it, but the turntable itself is just as unimpressive.
It does come with a built-in speaker and is on a small spring that helps to keep it from running off track when dealing with any knocks or vibrations.
These are pretty good inclusions, however, the re-spins small size makes it has that “kiddie toy” feel when using it, especially with a record that’s around 8″ or more.
Where it has some upsides is its lack of setup. Pretty much the only thing you’re going to need to do is to plug the re-spin record player into the wall with the power brick before cutting it on using the volume knob.
These re-spin record players have a headphone jack port, as well as a jack for an RCA speaker, and an RCA audio cable, to push the sound quality beyond its comically small built-in speaker units.
Re-Spin: Design
The Re-Spin’s design isn’t anything to write home about either. While the option I got was red, there are apparently a small variety of different colors available based on your preference, including more common options like black, white, and blue.
One of the cooler re-spin record player design inclusions is the use of its lid. When performing, it can double as a record stand. It has grooves already molded in place so that you can hold up about six records.
While they say it can (and has been shown to) hold record albums up to 12 inches, don’t expect it to look professional in any way. As I said earlier, the box is so small that 8-inch records are too big, and 12-inch options look almost comical.
Re-Spin Features
Taking a deeper look into the Re-spin turntable’s different Re-spin features, I do have to say that it does function fairly easily based on what you need it for. As said before, the volume knob doubles as the on/off switch. This makes using the record player very easy since all you have to do is put the record on, set the speed, drop the need, and cut it on at whatever volume you want it at.
Auto-Stop
A useful feature of this re-spin record player is the auto-stop function. It also comes with different speeds to run at, ranging from 33, 45, and 78. While it’s great that it has all of these features, they’re hardly groundbreaking or even unique. Most turntables you get are going to be able to auto-stop while also having multiple speeds available. Still, the fact that they’re there at all is worth acknowledging.

Pros:
- Affordably Priced
- Built-In Speakers
- Bluetooth Speaker
- Headphone Jack
Cons:
- Audio Options Are Poor
- Low Grade Build Quality
Audio Options
The Re-Spin is the best-sounding turntable in its class, with 3x the bass of a standard suitcase record player. The Re-Spin record player also comes with a few different audio options, all of which work pretty adequately while never being particularly special or noteworthy.
The included re-spin built-in speakers are incredibly small and shouldn’t be expected to fill up any room unless it’s very small and very quiet. The sound quality is fairly poor and only a bigger speaker should be used if you wanted the sound to fill a room
On the other hand, the re-spin headphone jack can be outfitted with both headphones as well as be plugged into a set of more capable larger external speakers if you are looking to reproduce deep bass, and loud sound and avoid any chance of experiencing a tinny sound.
While the re-spin headphones aren’t “terrible” they aren’t all that impressive either. Pretty much the only selling point for the headphones option is that you can cut out the internal speakers so that the sound is only coming out of your headphones.
This is something that isn’t the case when it comes to actual speakers.
In this case, you can expect them to play out right alongside your external speakers, almost making it unusable since the volume affects both equally at the same rate.
Bluetooth Connectivity
The best method to use the re-spin record player is through the included external Bluetooth speaker option. You won’t get sounds as great or as clear as with other turntable options, no, but the sound does ultimately work as you’d expect it to.
The Bluetooth speaker pairing process with your smart device is easy without cutting out for no reason.
Again, you shouldn’t expect audiophile levels of sound quality from a suitcase record player, but, for what it’s worth, the external Bluetooth speaker feature at least makes the re-spin turntable worth practicing with.

Victrola Re-Spin Portable Turntable: The Verdict
The Victrola Re-Spin portable record player is a classic suitcase record player and is not meant to be used professionally. However, that’s not why I would or wouldn’t recommend it to you.
As mentioned earlier, this record player is good for all DJs to have at least some working knowledge of how a vinyl record and turntable works. In essence, it looks like a Bluetooth speaker suitcase record player!
If you’re someone that’s getting started and doesn’t have that record player knowledge, as flimsy and ineffective as it is, the re-spin will still give you all of the basics that you’ll need to spin a few records.
All in all, there’s a very small group of people that should be using this re-spin turntable outside of casual users that just want a fun and cheap way to listen to music.
Pretty much, if you’re a DJ with a smart device that needs some hands-on experience with a turntable, you should consider looking into the Victrola Re-Spin.
However, you vinyl lovers may be wise to invest a few more dollars into a record player or a more expensive Bluetooth speaker setup.
